Bishop Fulton Sheen told this story: Jesus was walking through the beautiful grounds of heaven and noticed that many souls had easily gotten into heaven.  So He went to Peter and asked, “Peter, I gave you the Keys of Heaven.  Why are you not exercising your authority and letting many souls gain entrance into Heaven so easily?”  Peter answered, “Lord, don’t blame me.  Every time I close the gates your mother opens a window.”

Mary loves you and is always waiting with an open window for you to call upon her for aid.  She is right there for us to turn to if we ever need her help.  She was once a teenager too and understands what you’re going through, for she also experienced similar hardships.  Just think…she was appointed the mother of Jesus and had to care for a family when she was still a teen!  But she prevailed and wants to help you too.

“Purity, chastity, and virginity created a special beauty in Mary that attracted God’s attention.  He showed His great love for the world by giving Jesus to her.” (Mother Teresa)  Mary’s great virtue has set her apart among all other humans.  To be pure and chaste, imitate our Lady and pray to her.  She knows how hard it is to remain virtuous, she had trials and temptations too.  She is the ultimate role model and won’t let you down.

Do you want to know what Padre Pio, St. Josemaria Escriva, Blessed Pope Pius IX, and many other virtuous people think is one of the most powerful weapons?  The rosary. The rosary is our armor and strength against evil.  That’s right guys when we hold the rosary in our hands we are holding Mary’s hand.  Don’t be ashamed of those rosary beads.  Ask Mary because whatever request she lays at her Son’s feet He will grant it just like He did with her request when they ran out of wine at the Wedding at Cana.  She wants you to talk to her, she wants to lead you to Jesus.  At a retreat I was told that Mary takes our imperfect and distracted prayers, turns them into a rose and lays them at the feet of Jesus.  Now that’s cool!

“In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name depart from your lips, never suffer it to leave your heart. And that you may obtain the assistance of her prayer, neglect not to walk in her footsteps. With her for a guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal.” (St. Bernard of Clairvaux)
